I really can't wait for that one this is totally my kind of sci-fi I am not saying it's like 1984 but it have the same quality and I have the feeling it will be as great hope I am right.

It's genius, the concept of the story. I am excited that more and more of the kinds of movies that make you think are coming out instead of the ones that are just mindless explosions, although those are good too.

How would it work? You can weight down the strong, dumb down the smart but how would you raise the intellect of a retard or enable a paralytic to be equally strong?

They wouldn't. They would either make everyone equal to the least, or find ways to enhance them. Or kill them...a society like this probably has no problem with eugenics.

Although I love quirky sci-fi that tries to do something different (like 12 Monkeys) I also have a problem relating to anything that seems so implausible, so I'm not sure about this one..

It seems implausible, but its already happened. Just look around you.

The short story is excellent. I would recommend it to anyone.

I saw the original made for TV movie with Sean Astin back in 1995 and I am eagerly waiting for this flick to come out.

this seems to be just a mixup between V for vendetta and Brave New World. someone needs to come up with an idea that hasn't been thought of already, so isn't derivative.

Except the short story Harrison Bergeron was written in 1961 so it predates V for Vendetta.

Wow ross, please check your "facts" before you make uneducated comments. Also, do yourself a favor, and read the short story.

I like how misinterpreted this Vonnegut story is. Believing that this story is anti equality is like inviting Stephen Colbert to speak at the Republican correspondents dinner. Vonnegut is rolling in his grave.
