I am blown away. It made me think about things I'd never thought of, in ways I'd never dreamed of. Lois Lowry's imagination is staggeringly vast. I had to immediately go out today and buy Gathering Blue because The Giver is already haunting me; I want to devour this series and savor it at the same time.
As for the film, I can be patient (I think), but I do hope Walden Media continues to be involved. Their adaptations of the Narnia books and Bridge to Terabithia, while both deviate from the books, capture the heart and message that the authors intended. It would be tragic to have The Giver's message changed and its plot watered down into something less dark just to appeal to a broader audience. That's not what Lowry intended.

Re: “The Giver” Postponed By Potter?

I hope The Giver is well done which ever director they choose. Its my favorite book since I was in grade school. Keep up the good work. I'm pulling for you all good luck!
