Stan Lee on his Thor cameo
The end credits of all three Terminator films list Schwarzenegger's character as simply "The Terminator". Later films call the newer terminator characters by their series numbers (T-1000, T-X, etc.). The only consistent name for Schwarzenegger's Terminator character has been "The Terminator". Kyle Reese in The Terminator and Schwarzenegger's character in Terminator 2 refer to it as a "Cyberdyne Systems Model 101", and in Terminator 3, the Terminator refers to itself as a "T-101".
However, other sources contradict this designation. On the T2 Extreme Edition DVD, he is referred to as an 800 series and a T-800.[2] The T3 extras refer to him as an "850 series Model 101", a "T-850", and a "T-101".
Additionally, most merchandising for T2 and Terminator 3 - both at the time of their original releases and retroactively - (e.g. Action Masters miniatures, Cinemaquette statues, Sideshow Collecables replicas, Hollywood Collectibles statuettes, ArtFX kits, Medicom figures, Hot Toys, and McFarlane Toys) have all used the T-800 and T-850 nomenclature, contributing to this designation having arguably the most popular and widely-disseminated usage, especially in direct juxtaposition to the explicitly named T-600s and T-1000.
In the T2 commentary, Cameron states that the Model 101s all look like Schwarzenegger, with a 102 looking like someone else, leading to speculation that the 101 refers to the physical appearance while the 800 refers to the endoskeleton common to many models. A scene deleted from the theatrical cut, but restored in the Terminator 2 Special Edition, lends the most credence to this explanation. In this scene, John and Sarah shut down The Terminator for modification according to his instructions. When he reboots, the upper-left of his HUD reads "Cyberdyne Systems Series 800 Model 101 Version 2.4". Additionally, the original Terminator 2 teaser trailer further verifies this on a display monitor during cyborg tissue generation, referencing the Series 800 Model 101.
I want one.
also, wow Billy Hickle, a simple, 'yeah .3 you so right' would have sufficed
I take it you didn't see the "Hunter Killer"? Look at the article one more time.
1) The 600 would not have flesh like that. Skynet would not waste the time. It's pointless and inefficient. Someone fankwanking out a new enemy for a Quake or Doom game however... congratulations.
2) Hydrobot. Metal used for terminators = VERY HEAVY. If T:SCC has taught us anything, it would SINK.
3) Harvester. Yay for pointlessly huge and again unbelievably inefficient design. That thing is moronic and wouldn't look out of place in a dozen videogames.
4) Moterminator? Oh dear...
5) All of the above (bar the classic, wonderful HK) are clearly just there to give them some merchandise possibilities. Did the potential toyline actually come before the movie in this case?
You did watch the first film, right?
Of course the potential toy line came before the movie. It's Terminator 4 for God sakes. It's all about the money.
And yes, I second your dismay about the mototerminator. I couldn't think of a stupider character (name or design) if it was my job.
1)Why Pointless and inefficient to disguise the metallic robot to look like a human? Worked for the other three movies.
2)Hydrobot, how do you know they used the same metal? Its a 2-d picture. that could be a titanium alloy=VERY LIGHT
3)Have to agree with you there, the sheer mass of this robot using real-world physics would render this design virtually immobile. looks cool though, half the size and we've got a winner.
4)Mototerminator is probably one of the most practicle designs and would yield potentially devastating results, being extremely fast, maneuverable, and packing massive firepower by the looks of it.
5)So, once again, YOU FAIL.
